Chalnay Dou

The women’s march movement in Pakistan started a campaign to highlight the difficulty women in Pakistan often experience by being in public spaces using the theme “Chalnay Dou.” (“let me walk.”)

Inspired by the theme, I drew illustrations of women taking part in normal everyday activities - a woman walking her daughter to school, a woman walking with groceries, and two women walking together for exercise.

These are all normal everyday activities that women should be able to do with ease but often find their movement constricted because of the discomfort and lack of safety that comes with stepping out.

Hopeful for a better future that allows for safety and freedom of movement for all women.
