Céline Semaan is a designer, advocate and writer. She is also the founder of Slow Factory Foundation which is how I came to know about her work. Through Slow Factory, she is working to revolutionize the fashion industry and its harmful impact on the world. The Slow Factory works at the intersection of Climate & Culture, while building anti-racist community and growing climate-positive global movements.
I came to know about Céline’s work because I enrolled in the open education course offerings through the Slow Factory this semester. The goal of their open education work is to create equity-centered education taught by Black, Brown, Indigenous and minority ethnic scholars, thinkers and educators. It’s been an amazing learning experience for me and I’m so inspired by the bold vision that Celine has for her foundation. She is also currently writing a book, and has a tv show on Climate and Culture with launching soon.
Céline is leading revolutionary work and I’m looking forward to all her upcoming projects and learning from and with her.
