Angela Davis

Few things make me happier than reading about the works of feminist activists and scholars. I am taking a course this semester on Black Feminism and have had the great joy of reading a lot of Angela Davis’s work through class.

One of my favorite Angela Davis quotes is:

“Whenever you conceptualize social justice struggles, you will always defeat your own purposes if you cannot imagine the people around whom you are struggling as equal partners.”

In the summer of 2020, I saw an image of Angela Davis protesting during the Black Lives Matter protests which inspired me to make this illustration.
